'The outstanding and well-known South African musicians Fezile
'Feya' Faku (trp/flügelhorn) and Sydney Mnisi (tenorsax) are
playing together since 1994 with the quintet of Dutch
altosaxophonist/composer Paul van Kemenade (Boy Edgar prize).
They have played inter-national tours together(also with Louis
Mhlanga, Zim Ngqawana and Bheki Khoza) and this exciting South
African - Dutch collaboration has resulted in two cd's (Zvinoshamisa
and Mexi Cosy). Now in a brandnew project they meet again,
playing new compositions of each other and has the band been
extended with the big voice of Sonti Mndebele and the great
guitarist/vocalist/produder Lawrence Matshiza. The music of
this 9-piece collaboration is build on a colourfull basement
of Southern African music styles and European improvised music
and American jazzmusic. An interesting and impressive musical
cocktail !

Sonti Mndebele - vocals , Feya Faku - flügelhorn &

Cape Times (SA): Mnisi's haunting Tembisa the people,
is one of the most evocative African jazz statements to be
released in the last decade. Together this South Seas
whirlwind glues together European and American jazz
improvisations with warm-blooded South African music.
Volkskrant (NL): Passionate; Blues, gospel (Mndebele)
and township music melt together with a touch of Mingus.
Roche Nachrichten (S): A fabulous concert in Basel;
Good vibrations; Strong hornsection.
Slagwerkkrant (NL): A very beautiful sound ; Smartly
arranged mix of jazz ,bossa, funk, pop and African music.
