The duo with fine violoncellist Reijseger and altoist Van Kemenade play in duo since end 2010 but they do not perform quite often together. On the cd CLOSE ENOUGH (reviewed with five stars in Downbeat) they present three pieces together.

*****Downbeat USA july 2011

His alto darts and dives luxuriously, a rainbow feathered bird of paradise riding to the stratosphere. Speaking of birds, ‘Cuckoo’ with Ernst Reijseger plucking and strumming cello and guffawing like a tipsy woodchopper, is brilliant and hilarious. A great sensitivity to dynamics and a lovely hover betwixt classical, composition and improv.

*****Volkskrant september 2011

Styles melt together as personalities do. The duet has everything you would expect from a jazz performance: an immense creativity that forces another into a dynamic reply.
